Can schools or universities book Doorspace for a course?

Yes. Doorspace can collaborate with schools, academies, universities, and other institutions. Options can include student licences, course-based access, specific workshops, safety inductions, or use of the facilities for a defined period.

How do machine safety inductions work?

Safety inductions are short training sessions explaining how to safely use a specific machine or machine group. They usually take about one hour. The induction needs to be completed before independent use of that machine. For institutional groups, safety inductions are usually paid separately by the institution.

Can students use Doorspace?

Yes. Doorspace works with educational institutions and can arrange student licences for courses, projects, or temporary access. For example, an institution can arrange a number of student licences for the duration of a course. Students still need to complete the relevant safety inductions before using machines.

Can I just walk in and use the machines?

Not immediately. For safety reasons, users need to complete the relevant machine safety induction before using certain machines. After the induction, you can use the machines you are authorised for.

What machines and facilities are available?

Doorspace includes shared workbenches, woodworking machines, laser cutting, CNC routing, 3D printing, plastics recycling tools, sewing/textile equipment, a heat press, electronics tools, and general making facilities. Access to specific machines depends on your training and the availability of the space.

Who can use Doorspace?

Doorspace is open to makers, designers, students, artists, entrepreneurs, hobbyists, and anyone interested in making. Some machines require a safety induction before use.

What is Doorspace?

Doorspace is a makerspace in Maastricht where people can access tools, machines, workbenches, knowledge, and a community of makers. It is a place to create, learn, experiment, repair, prototype, and meet other people working on creative or technical projects.
