Ground rules
Learn the dos and don’ts of the Makerspace area at Qeske Maastricht. Our ground rules ensure a safe, respectful, and collaborative environment for all makers, members and visitors of the Doorspace.
These rules are a simplified summary of the Doorspace Membership Agreement.
Respect the space and each other
- Treat others with courtesy, patience, and respect – no abusive, loud, or disruptive behaviour
- Respect the privacy, belongings, and work of others. Don’t touch or use anything that isn’t yours
- Harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated
- Stichting Doorspace is a community-led space
- Major decisions, including space changes, conflict resolution, tenant issues, or other structural matters are made collectively
- All members have a voice. If a decision needs to be made, it must be discussed and voted on during a community meeting
- Everyone is encouraged to participate, and decisions are made by consensus or majority vote, depending on the topic
- Use machines only after proper induction, assessment, or training – no exceptions
- Always wear appropriate PPE and use extraction systems when needed
- Report hazards, malfunctions, or injuries immediately to staff
- Never work under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances
- Leave your work area as you found it, or better
- Clean up dust, scraps, and mess from both your space and nearby shared areas
- Only store materials or tools in your own booked or assigned area
- Share equipment responsibly. When demand is high, limit use to 30 minutes at a time
- Never tamper with, modify, or misuse any machine or tool
- Book machines and workbenches through the official system and pay in advance
- You are responsible for your guests at all times
- Any damage caused by you or your visitors must be compensated or repaired
- Repeated violations may result in yellow or red cards, and even loss of membership
- Visitors may not use tools or machines
- Do not teach others to use machines, only staff-led training is allowed
- Smoking and drinking are not permitted in the workspace
- Proper disposal of waste is mandatory, separate your garbage correctly
- Fire exits must remain clear at all times
