Recycled Plastics Workshop

Turn plastic waste into something new and functional. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to collect, sort, and transform plastics into sheets and finished objects.

In this hands-on experimental session, we’ll explore the process of transforming plastic waste into new materials and objects. Instead of starting with a finished setup, we’ll learn by testing and experimenting together.

We’ll begin with a short introduction to different types of plastics, how to recognize and sort them, and what challenges they pose for recycling. Then we’ll move on to the practical part:

  • Examine and prepare shredded plastic materials already available in the workshop

  • Design and create simple moulds for pressing the plastics

  • Experiment with heat-pressing techniques, adjusting time, temperature, and pressure

  • Observe and document the results to refine the process

This workshop is part learning, part testing, a collective experiment to understand how recycled plastics behave when pressed into new shapes and forms.

By the end of the session, participants will gain insight into the potential and limitations of recycled plastics, and help develop the techniques we’ll use in future workshops to create functional products such as furniture or accessories.

No prior experience is needed, just curiosity, patience, and a willingness to experiment!
